Judaism is not a religion or tradition that is practiced alone, after all, we need a minyan for certain religious obligations. Some of us celebrate every Shabbat with a fancy meal and prayers, others may go to synagogue, but whatever your practice is, here are some communal Shabbat programs around Los Angeles that celebrate our most important holiday.
For Young Adults

One Table

Described as Airbnb for Shabbat, the online platform helps connect millennials to find, share and enjoy Shabbat dinners near them. To date, the app has helped over 240,000 unique participants in over 600 cities come together, celebrate and connect. For hosts, the nonprofit helps subsidize the meal and provides resources for both prayers and conversation.

Moishe House

From May 17-19 Moishe House will host a Shabbat Ritual 101 retreat at Brandeis Bardeen Institute exploring the underlying meaning of traditional Shabbat rituals, learning how to create new rituals that meet our modern needs, and testing out what they come up with. Moishe House is a global leader in peer-led Jewish young adult engagement offering innovative, engaging and exciting programming.

Shabbos House

L.A. Established in 2020 Avi and Miquela Climo have opened their doors to serve a Hamish home-cooked Kosher meal open to all Jews. Their goal is to provide young Jews a place to celebrate with food, fun and song.

Pico Union Project

Each month the Pico Union Project hosts The Shabbat Table, a monthly Shabbat celebration where people of all backgrounds and faiths break bread together and connect through shared stories, poetry, and song.

Westside JCC

Family Community Shabbat is a heartwarming and meaningful experience hosted by the J Los Angeles staff, typically held once a month. The evening is filled with song and prayer led by Miss Melo and followed by eating and dancing the night away.

Cedars Sinai

If you are caring for a loved one and find yourself on a Friday at Cedars Sinai do not fret. Weekly services take place in the chapel located on the Plaza level between the North and South towers. The Kabbalat Shabbat is held from 3:00 to 3:30 pm and on Saturday from 9:30 to 11:30.
